Crisis Simulations International's new training division, CSI eLearning, combines the proprietary simulation technology and expertise of Crisis Simulations International with the 24/7 on-demand benefits of online learning.

CSI eLearning's inaugural training package provides instruction for radiation detection devices used by local law enforcement and within federal and state government agencies. The flexibility of CSI's patented DXMA™ technology platform makes it possible to build online training and simulations for devices used in other agencies or in the private sector.

CSI eLearning's radiation detection training is sponsored and endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security's Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. It reinforces lessons learned in traditional classroom-based instructor-led courses.

As in classroom training, our radiation detection training provides basic information on gamma and neutron radiation, instructions for using the devices and simulated field exercises where students use virtual devices to detect and locate radiation sources.

Law enforcement agencies can also use the radiation detection training package as introductory training and for annual department or jurisdiction certifications.

CSI eLearning courses start with basic information on hazardous materials, include video review lessons and have self-assessment quizzes to introduce students to the subject matter. Everything learned in earlier parts of the training is put into practice in the virtual field exercises -- the simulations. The simulations create a realistic environment for students to virtually enter a scenario and a conduct a search for a hazardous material using a virtual detection device. In the training, after locating a radiation source and recording device readings, students make decisions about what to do with the information and how to adjudicate the situation.
